Sad Weekend

What was supposed to be a nice weekend visit with Laura in ATL turned bad when my Grandfather died on Sat. morning. Cecil Collins was 92 and in poor health, however, we weren't expecting it so soon. It comes at the end of an almost year-long stay in a nursing home with visits in and out of the hospital.

The funeral was on Monday.

Now, I'm back at work trying to recover all that was screwed up while I was away.

Easter was hot, no really.

Yeah, last Easter was a frozen tundra of Texas complete with freak snowstorm. This year, 100 degree heat and sunbathing. Too strange, yes even today the mercury will pass 100 and I'm wearing a sweater becuase they keep the air at like 67 in my office.

Went to an awesome Quice, Mexican sweet 15, on sat night. It was sooo weird. Food was good, thats about it. Trying to map out apt crap strategy, figure out what I need to buy.

YAY, I have a home

well, the first place I looked at had a one bedroom come available in june, so I snapped it up at a discounted rate and put my deposit down. the place is big and only has 2 problems to speak of:
  • No covered parking
  • I have to get a stacked washer dryer
Despite these issues, I'll have 40 bucks extra a month to find solutions to the hail problem. I'm thinking emergency cardboard. But, this is a big step and my first post-college residence.

Gansta Paradise

Wow, after a fun weekend in ATL, I am glad to be back home. I didn't take any pictures, wasn't in the mood really. But, we hung out and visited with the Grandparents, ate alot. On Sunday, Laura and Dr. Lister and I went to the Ga Aquarium. This place was awesome. The largest in the world with Whale Sharks and Belugas. A very beautiful place and at 8am, wasn't very crowded.

Then a shopping excursion to Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square. Both were fantastic and I ended up with some stuff. The highlight of shopping was the discovery of Filene's Basement. Like a high-end TJ Maxx on Steroids. Rack after rack of designer brands, Zegna and Barney's at cut rate. Very nice.

But, the evening wore on and it was time to fly on AirTramp back to Dallas. While I was waiting for my plane, I happened to notice the man sitting in the next bench attracting some stares and gawking. A group of flight attendants, (who I later found to be on my flight), sat next to me and began chatting. One of the attendants asked me if I knew who that guy was, I said no. She said, "Oh, I know him, that's Coolio!"

Yes, indeed, it was that rapper from the mid-90's. He watched some movie on his powerbook, then with his traveling companion, began to take pictures with a cell phone camera of a quite large ass that belonged to a large black lady in the terminal. Slightly juvenile but, he hasn't had a hit in a while so, entertainment must come cheap. Yeah, and anyway, why would he fly AirTranny
